Dame Muriel Spark graduated from what was Heriot-Watt College in 1934, and received an honorary degree from Heriot-Watt University in 1995. In this video, crime novelist Ian Rankin – who once began studying for a PhD on Muriel Spark – reads a section from “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie” with footage of Edinburgh from the time in the book.
